Dwell Features East Van Residence
East Van Residence has been featured by Dwell in a home tour centered around the young family of three’s love of hosting and one of the project’s most defining features: the pool.
“The pool is a big part of their lifestyle,” says Montgomery. “It became a real focal point, so we thought, ‘How can we elevate this pool and connect it to the house in a playful way?’”
Rather than treating the pool as an accessory, it became the social and spatial heart of the project, which is sited on a compact lot in East Vancouver. The home is organized around the landscaped courtyard and pool, positioned between the 2,703-square-foot main house and a 514-square-foot rear garage studio.
A reverse floor plan places the primary living spaces above, maximizing views and light to the North Shore, while the courtyard draws daylight deep into the lower level.
