Bowen Island Cabin

A quiet west-coast retreat with views of Howe Sound, designed for a small family to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2027, Bowen Island Cabin is designed as a quiet retreat for a small family seeking to unwind and reconnect with nature. Located on the island’s rugged west side, the site offers sweeping views across Howe Sound, framed by moss-covered granite, towering firs, cedars, and sculptural arbutus trees. It is a place defined by calmness, light, and the rhythm of the surrounding landscape.

A modest façade conceals a warm and inviting interior. Once inside, the cabin opens toward the view, creating a sense of release and refuge. Clad in cedar inside and out, the home exudes a natural softness that deepens as the material weathers in the coastal air. Large openings blur the boundary between interior and exterior, inviting the changing light and landscape into daily life.

An outdoor pool extends the living space into the forest, reinforcing a connection to the natural elements—earth, water, and air. Local and natural materials are used throughout, grounding the home in its setting and creating a timeless sense of place.
